Fun Day With My Kids

Today I took the day off from life. I did not pick up a textbook, or read my Web CT. I did not focus on the upcoming year as Literacy Coach, or talk about school. I woke up at 8am and dressed the kids and took a day off for fun at the Orlando Science Center. Mommy has been promising them that we would go all summer, but with moving and completing school and changing jobs, it had been put to the back burner. They were so appreciative. It always amazes me how appreciative they are--I must have done something right. We watched Dinosaurs Alive on the Cinedome and studied climate change. My 3 year old is obsessed with dinosaurs. I enjoyed playing with my children today...but back to the grind tomorrow!

My husband Ramone

This is a picture of my husband and I at the beach. My husband Ramone is my best friend. He pushes my to continue my education and keep my head on straight because he knows how much it means to me, and wants to see me fullfill my goals. He is the only person I have ever met that I have so much in common with. No, we don't agree on everything, but we always respect eachother's opinions. We both follow politics and world events very heavily. He loves to pick my brain about education and the youth of America. His questions help me formualte my ideas for topics and research. I don't know where or who I'd be without him.

These are my beutiful children. Camryn is now eight years old and going into the third grade. Ramone is 3 1/2 and all the trouble he looks. I feel as though they are my inspiration for continuing my education. I want to set a wonderful example for them and their endeavors in life. I am so proud of the children they are, and the citizens they will become. There will not be a better feeling in the world than walking across the stage at graduation to have them and my husband meet me on the other side.

Behind in Life...

Yes, Yes, I know! I am way behind. I am at the point where I am hanging by a thread, but I am bouncing back. We are in the process of buying a home, selling our existing home, and I am starting a new job. These are all definately blessings, but a little stressful all at once. I have never been this behind in school, but I hope to never get this behind again. Sometimes I just feel like I need a moment to breathe. I just attended a Literacy Coach training conducted by Just Read Florida in Orlando. I recieved some great information and made many wonderful contacts. If any of you out there are Literacy Coaches, I'd love to hear from you. Any words of advice?

Family Vacation

Right now I am writing from beautiful Sanibel, Florida. My husband and our two young children (Camryn and Ramone) are on a much needed vacation. This year has definately been a whirlwind for me. I have learned so much thus far in my program, but it has taken up an immense amount of time. There have been so many days where my husband has come home form working a 12 hour day in the hot sun and had to immediately take on all the responsibiliies with our children so that I may finish an assignment for school. I don't think I've ever heard a complaint from him or the kids. My husband has taken so many solo park trips, movie days, and other activities so that I can have a quiet working environment. He has listened to me moan, groan, and panic. He's helped me brainstorm topics and listened with interest to my ideas. He has been my rock. Even now as we are on vacation, my family is so understanding about "Mommy's Homework". I think my seven year old is starting to get worried that homework never ends! The concept of this blog is to honor the people that support me in what I do. If you find it boring, I apologize, but I felt that it might be a creative outlet to express my thanks to them, as well as get aquainted with my classmates. I'm not sure how this blog will evolve, being that blogging is a new concept for me. I plan to add pictures to the blog as soon as we return home. I recently got a notebook and forgot to load the software from my digital camera to the notebook before our trip so that I could post pictures. I'm a little stressed about that because it was a large part of what I had envisioned for the look of the blog, but I will not let it affect my much needed vacation.
